No goals but a nice light show: Brighton 0-0 Forest photos
Another game without any photos of goals for the Albion but we were at least treated to a lovely light show before kick off in Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest.
Supporters were invited to take their seats early to enjoy the floodlights and advertising boards flashing on and off.
With the pitch being watered at the same time, it created quite the scene in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis during which a lot of fans in the stands cannot afford to turn the lights on in their homes.
If that sounds like moaning, then it is not. The light show was actually quite exciting, if a little pointless. Certainly more exciting than anything which happened on the pitch.
Forest arrived with the intention of parking the bus. Having seen Spurs and Brentford pick up results against Brighton by sitting back and defending, Steve Cooper copied that approach with the result being a point and clean sheet for the Premier League’s bottom club.
The Albion mustered 19 shots over the 90 minutes without sticking one in the back of the net. That made it zero goals from 54 efforts in 180 minutes of football across the Forest, Brentford and Spurs games.
Leandro Trossard came closest to ending the barren run, rattling the bar with a superb strike from distance. Trossard was also denied by Dean Henderson, who had a busy evening in making saves from Solly March and Pascal Gross.
Both Joel Veltman and Adam Webster displayed centre back’s finishing when firing over from inside the six yard box.
Danny Welbeck’s wait to open his account for the season meanwhile goes on. Might the Albion achieve the impressive feat of reaching Halloween without a striker scoring a league goal?
With Manchester City and Chelsea to come, it does not get any easier for Roberto De Zerbi.
