Albion win in Atlanta: Photos from Brentford 0-2 Brighton
The second set of photos from the Albion’s tour of the United States come from Atlanta, where a final score of Brentford 0-2 Brighton secured the Seagulls their first win of the Summer Series.
Simon Adringa scored both the goals in what was a pretty sparsely populated Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Brighton against Brentford in a 5:30pm kick off local time had seemingly not captured the imagination of too many locals.
Still, those Albion fans who were there enjoyed themselves at the home of the Atlanta Falcons. So too did the players as they delivered an impressive display and Tony Bloom, who will celebrate any victory over his old rival Matthew Benham – even a glorified pre-season friendly.
Adringa was the star, showing just why Brighton supporters are so excited about what he can bring to the Premier League after spending 2022-23 on loan with Union Saint-Gilloise.
His opener was almost a carbon copy of Kaoru Mitoma’s goal when Brighton and Brentford drew 3-3 at the Amex back in April.
Jason Steele hit a delightful long ball 70 yards down the pitch to pick out the run of Adringa cutting in from his left flank.
Adringa produced an outstanding piece of control to bring the ball down and then fired an early effort past Bees goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
The second goal arrived just before the hour mark. Steve Alzate fed a pass wide to Adringa, who cut into the area and finished right footed into the opposite corner. More shades of Mitoma, right there.
Moises Caicedo was a second half substitute for his first appearance of pre-season which has sent many Chelsea supporters into complete and utter meltdown.
With the Blues reluctant to meet the Albion’s £100 million asking price, Caicedo may yet remain a Brighton player beyond the transfer window shutting.
For the sake of the brave Seagulls supporter who has got Caicedo’s name and number printed on the back of the new green and black away kit, let us hope that is the case.
