DJ Jurgen & Lamptey in the house: Photos from Brighton 2-0 Swansea

Some may call the Carabao Cup a pointless competition but not us – and especially not when a game like Brighton 2-0 Swansea City presents the opportunity to collect a load of photos of the lesser spotted Tariq Lamptey and DJ Jurgen Locadia.

For Lamptey, this Energy Drink game against the Swans represented his first competitive action since December. A troublesome hamstring meant that we had not seen one of England’s most exciting young prospects in a Brighton shirt for nine long months.

Locadia has been absent for a different reason. His most recent Albion appearance had come in August 2019, since when he has been pursuing a career as an international musician and posting photos of himself on Instagram making dinner and drinking coffee.

Oh yeah, there were a couple of loan spells at Hoffenheim and FC Cincinnati thrown into the mix, but thankfully Locadia did not let that get in the way of his day job as a DJ and influencer.

Both were treated to a raucous reception by an Amex crowd a little shy of 9,000 people on their returns. Lamptey played the first 45 minutes before a pre-planned half time substitution and Locadia received the last 20 minutes, greeted onto the pitch by the sort of roar rarely seen outside of a Justin Bieber concert.

We should probably mention some of the actual football that took place rather than just focussing on Lamptey and DJ Jurgen. Brighton ended up winning 2-0 thanks to two goals from Aaron Connolly to secure safe passage to the fourth round of the competition and a meeting with Leicester City.

The Foxes will be out for revenge in that one as they still appear to be very sore about the events of three days previously. Brighton beat Leicester 2-1 at the Amex thanks to a contentious penalty and the visitors having two goals ruled out for identical offside decisions against Harvey Barnes.

One other thing to look out for in these Brighton 2-0 Swansea photos aside from Locadia and Lamptey is the moon – it was big and bright above the South Stand. Maybe that explains why Connolly scored twice – it only happens when there is a full moon?
