Good day as Albion make Goodison history: Everton 2-3 Brighton photos

For the second time in the space of four days, we have a Fan Photos Gallery which captures a momentous occasion in the 121 year history of the Albion: Everton 2-3 Brighton.

At Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, Danny Welbeck became the first ever Brighton player to score a league against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as the Albion drew 1-1 with the European Champions.

Fast forward 96 hours and Graham Potter’s Seagulls secured a first ever Brighton win at Goodison Park, seeing off the Toffees in an enthralling five goal thriller.

No Albion team had tasted victory when visiting the blue half of Merseyside in nine previous attempts. It took less than three minutes for the outstanding Alexis Mac Allister to start rewriting the record books as he finished off a beautiful passing move from back to front to give Brighton the lead.

Big Dan Burn doubled the advantage before half time, taking advantage of some woeful marking from Everton.

The Albion were then on the receiving end of a rare bit of good fortune as Dominic Calvert-Lewin squandered the chance to pull one back when putting a penalty over the bar

Toffee supporters were not backwards in coming forwards at the interval, booing their side off and showering abuse down on Rafa Benitez the likes of which we cannot repeat on such a family friendly website.

There seemed little prospect that Everton could be so woeful in the second half. Anthony Gordon duly halved the deficit thanks to a heavy deflection off Adam Lallana, after which the Albion had to withstand a fair bit of pressure.

That man Mac Allister then took centre stage again, striking an absolute thunderbastard from outside the area to make it 3-1.

Gordon tried to keep Everton alive by cutting the Albion’s advantage to one again, but the Toffees were unable to force an equaliser as Brighton held on for a famous and historic win to start 2022.
