No gold at end of the rainbow: Brighton 1-1 Fulham photos

Torrential rain interrupted by periods of sunshine meant the opportunity to get some wonderful rainbow photos during Brighton 1-1 Fulham at the Amex.

Unfortunately, the Albion were unable to find a pot of gold at the end. Or more than one goal against the Cottagers. The most likely thing to be discovered was in fact a Fulham playing lying on the ground, clutching their head.

This was a frustrating afternoon for Brighton. They dominated possession and took 17 shots but wayward finishing cost them dear as the Cottagers somehow escaped with a point.

Evan Ferguson produced the only clinical moment from anyone in blue and white all afternoon. Pascal Gross threaded a pass into the Irish teenager sensation and he picked out the far corner beyond the reach of Bernd Leno.

The Albion were made to pay for their wastefulness midway through the second half. Gross and Baleba contrived to gift possession to Fulham, leading to Joao Palhinha beating Jason Steele to equalise.

Just to add insult to injury, Palhinha should not have even been on the pitch by that point. Before Brighton had taken the lead, he swung an elbow into the face of Gross.

Shockingly, neither referee Michael Salisbury nor VAR thought the assault worthy of a yellow – let alone the red card it clearly deserved.

Following their leveller, Fulham ran down the clock in a manner even more painful than when they won 1-0 at the Amex back in February.

Highlights included two players picking up head injuries during the same Brighton attack and Leno going down with cramp when the ball was 70 yards away from him. Reminder that he was the Fulham goalkeeper.

Nine minutes of stoppage time felt like the bare minimum. This was one of those days, however, when Brighton were never likely to find the winner they deserved.

Still, at least we had those rainbows to marvel over.
