Photos from Brighton 0-0 Norwich – just don’t call it a SHOOT

According to Brighton boss Graham Potter, hearing the word SHOOT is a challenge for his Albion players – so it is just as well these photos from the 0-0 draw with Norwich City at the Amex are not referred to as a photoshoot.

Potter made his strange comments about the impact that the word SHOOT has on this Brighton squad when being quizzed after the game.

Seemingly, something that fans at every ground up and down the country do is unhelpful when it is Albion supporters doing the shouting. Bizarre.

Those Brighton fans who had unknowingly caused their team issues by bellowing SHOOT saw their side extend their run of games without a home goal to five, held by a Canaries outfit who were arguably the worst team the Albion have hosted in their time as a Premier League club.

Whereas the previous two Amex matches – a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool and a 2-0 defeat to Spurs – had seen Brighton muster just one shot over 180 combined minutes, the Seagulls did at least create lots of opportunities against Norwich.

31 to be precise. Problematically, only four of those were on target. And even more problematically, just one seriously troubled ex-Albion goalkeeper Tim Krul in the Canaries goal.

That came just after the interval, when Joel Veltman was denied by a magnificent reaction save from his fellow Dutchman.

Brighton’s best chance to break the deadlock and end their barren run arrived when a Pascal Gross cross was inexplicably handled in the box by a Norwich defender midway through the first half.

Despite the presence of Leandro Trossard and Alexis Mac Allister on the pitch, Potter opted to hand penalty taking duties to Neal Maupay.

The French striker has a questionable record at best from 12 yards. It did not get any better when he blasted over the bar – a moment which may well have completely shattered his confidence if the look of a broken man he displayed when substituted later was anything to go by.
