Sun shines but Albion don’t make hay: Brighton 0-0 Ipswich photos

Our Brighton 0-0 Ipswich Town photos show the sun shining but the Albion failed to make much hay as the ultra-defensive visitors parked their tractor in front of their goal.

It is a story familiar to Albion fans, even if the vehicle being parked up is normally a bus rather than farm machinery. Classics of a similar genre from last season include Brighton 1-1 Burnley, Brighton 1-1 Sheffield United and Brighton 1-1 Fulham.

All three visitors sat deep and invited the Albion to break them down. The Albion were unable to do so satisfactorily and so all three headed home from Sussex with a point to show for their efforts.

Fabian Hurzeler spoke in his pre-match press conference about how he did not feel the struggles Robert De Zerbi and Glow Up Graham Potter had were relevant to his Brighton side.

He might think differently now having experienced the issue first-hand. The Albion racked up over 20 shots. Six were on target. No goals scored.

Part of the reason Brighton drew a blank was an inspired goalkeeping performance from Arijanet Muric. An early save at full stretch from a powerful Carlos Baleba volley set to the tone for what was to come from the Tractor Boys number one.

He went onto claw out a Danny Welbeck header and then produce a magnificent double save midway through the half. Georginio Rutter was first to be denied with Muric reacting quick enough to get across his goal line and block the follow up from Kaoru Mitoma.

Muric was far less busy in the second half. The Albion seemed to run out of ideas and Liam Delap almost completed a smash-and-grab when running 70 yards through the entire Brighton team with the ball before smashing an effort into the far post.

Had that gone in, the watching Ed Sheeran would have been delirious – and Brighton fans left with shivers.
