Wolves tamed by table topping Albion: Wolves 1-4 Brighton photos
Photos from the Albion visiting Molineux normally end up telling the tale of a pretty decent away day but Wolves 1-4 Brighton went above and beyond.
The reason? Brighton & Hove Albion ending the weekend top of the Premier League table for the first time in their history. The Seagulls are officially the best team in England right now. Which will never not seem mad.
Okay, the 2023-24 season is only two games old. But a girl has to enjoy moments like these whilst she can. Brighton have taken six points from six, scored eight goals and conceded only two.
Once the teams had entered the pitch and the travelling Albion support been roasted alive by the flamethrowers located in front of the away section, there was little indication during the first half of the comfortable victory this would end up being.
Kaoru Mitoma opened the scoring midway through the opening 45 minutes with a goal of sheer individual brilliance.
The Japanese Bullet Train ran 40 yards down the pitch with the ball on a quick and powerful run which started on the left flank and ended with him beating home goalkeeper Jose Sa one-on-one.
Wolves were the better side after that and they went into the break having had more shots than Brighton and recorded a greater share of possession.
What followed at the start of the second half was phenomenal. The Albion came back out, stepped up another two gears and blew Wolves away with three goals in nine minutes.
Pervis Estupinan kicked off the blistering spell before Julio Enciso twice set up Solly March. Having also scored in the 4-1 win over Luton Town last week, March now leads the way in the Premier League scoring charts. Which is even more mad than Brighton topping the table.
Wolves fans began streaming out at that point. Those who stayed witnessed Hwang Hee-chan grab a consolation followed by Matheus Nunes seeing red during injury time after completely losing the plot with Adam Webster and Estupinan.
