Solly March voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for September 2017

It’s been a fantastic month for Solly March who gave established Premier League full backs nightmares as Brighton and Hove Albion won two out of their five games in September to be voted our WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month.

March scored a cracking header in the 2-1 defeat away at Bournemouth for his first goal of the season but best of all for an Arsenal fan who described Thierry Henry as his hero would’ve been the fact that the former Gunners legend was raving about him on Sky Sports after the game at the Vitality Stadium.

With the Albion starting to make an impression on the division, moving up to 14th in the table in the process, rumours are beginning to circle that March’s form could be rewarded with a surprise call up into the England senior squad having previously worked with Gareth Southgate in the under 21s.

Without Pascal Gross, Brighton wouldn’t have scored in September as he was involved in all five of the teams goals in September to take second place in the vote. He netted twice and claimed an assist in the 3-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion, set up March for his goal in the Bournemouth game and sent in the free kick which Tomer Hemed scrambled home for the only goals against Newcastle United. With Gross in this sort of form, we might just get away with not having signed a striker in the summer.

Last months winner Lewis Dunk had another sterling month to finish third. He blocked virtually everything that came his way in the wins over West Brom and Newcastle and then received rave reviews from Jamie Carragher after the Bournemouth game. That 20/1 for him to make England’s World Cup squad looks pretty big at the moment.
