Lovely evening for some booing: Brighton 1-2 Chelsea photos

Our collection of fan photos from Brighton 1-2 Chelsea photos show what a lovely May evening it was to partake in some booing.

There was a pleasant sunset. It was relatively warm. And Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo were left in no doubt over what Albion supporters think about them after the duo forced through moves to Stamford Bridge over the past 24 months.

The only disappointment was the final score. But an Albion side with a patched-up look having been ravaged by injury could be proud of their performance against a club who have spent £1 billion on new signings.

With all that money, Chelsea should be winning trophies and challenging for a Champions League spot. Not scraping victory by a single goal against Little Old Brighton. Followed by their fans gloating as if they have won the Premier League title.

Cucurella endeared himself to the Amex faithful early on, wrestling Lewis Dunk from a corner and then going down in the Brighton box to try and win Chelsea a penalty.

Referee Michael Salisbury did initially point to the spot, only for VAR to tell him to take another look. Mr Salisbury subsequently changed his mind because Facundo Buonanotte got a touch on the ball when making his sliding tackle.

Annoyingly, Cucurella went onto set up the first Blues goal just past the half hour mark. The frizzy haired snake crossed and Cole Palmer produced a superb header giving Bart Verbruggen no chance.

Joao Pedro hit the bar for Brighton and Pascal Gross missed a sitter before Chelsea doubled their lead. Christopher Nkunku finished off a counter attack to leave the Albion with it all to do.

Reece James receiving a straight red card for violent conduct set up an interesting finish, made more so with 10 minutes of added time.

Danny Welbeck scored in the ninth of those to half the deficit. Brighton though were unable to force an equaliser and so Chelsea escaped with three points. A far cry from their 4-1 humiliation at the Amex last season.
