Albion dish out a mullering at Molineux: Wolves 0-3 Brighton photos

It was an historic occasion at Molineux with these photos capturing the afternoon that Wolves 0-3 Brighton gave the Albion their highest points tally in the Premier League.

And what style it was achieved in. The Seagulls gave arguably their best performance of the campaign to completely blow away opponents who hold high hopes of qualifying for the Europa Papa John’s Trophy.

At 2:55pm, Wolves were the owners of the fourth-best defensive record in the top flight. Only Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea had conceded less.

By 4:40pm, home supporters were streaming out of Molineux having seen their side ship three goals at one end. At the other end, they mustered a solitary effort at Robert Sanchez which amounted to catching practice for the Spaniard.

Brighton would even afford to miss a first half penalty – wonderfully captured in these photos by Ed Bush – through Alexis Mac Allister.

That made it three missed penalties in a row for the Albion, following on from Neal Maupay in the 0-0 draw with Norwich City and Pascal Gross when Brighton drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace at the Amex.

Nine minutes after striking the post from the spot and Mac Allister showed remarkable steel and resilience to have another go when the Albion were awarded a second penalty.

He made no mistake with that one, putting the ball towards the same corner. This time, it nestled into the side netting with too much power for the hand Jose Sa got on it to keep it out.

Leandro Trossard continued his rich vein of form when doubling Brighton’s lead on 70 minutes. The victory was completed when Yves Bissouma powered home his first Premier League goal for 18 months with a strike from outside the area after Marc Cucurella went rampaging down the left.

The travelling Albion support saluted the players and Graham Potter afterwards in a by-now empty Molineux.

Potter had said he wanted to give Brighton fans more memories on the road and he duly delivered at Wolves. Now how about a fourth home win of the season against Manchester United?
