For all the lovely photos which professional photographers take from their privileged pitch side position, we don’t think anything can take the images captured by Brighton & Hove Albion fans in the 2019-20 season.
There is something about a blurry photo taken on a camera phone of thousands of people going wild in the North Stand because Brighton are about to beat Norwich City.
Who can capture the connection between players and managers better than a supporter who has managed to get the perfect shot of a striker celebrating with unbridled joy in amongst the fans?
And very few professionals see the other side of the game. The beautiful stadiums, the pre-game pints and the overhand policing which accompanies any game with Crystal Palace.
Which is why our annual roundup of the best Brighton fan photos is one of our favourite WeAreBrighton.com features of the year. It is a little different this season for obvious reasons – there wasn’t anybody present in the stadiums for the final nine games of the campaign.
As well as being great fun to look at, these photos also serve as a reminder of how important supporters are to the spectacle of live football. The sooner we can all get back into stadiums safely, the better.
