Arsenal in awe of awesome Albion: Arsenal 0-3 Brighton photos

Well, well, well. Another trip to the Emirates Stadium and another set of photos from an Albion victory, this one the most impressive of the lot as it finished Arsenal 0-3 Brighton to leave the red half of North London shell shocked.

This was the third time in succession Brighton had beaten the Gunners on their own patch. Last April’s 2-1 success proved damaging to Mikel Arterta’s hopes of a top four finish, followed by Arsenal 1-3 Brighton in the Carabao Cup back in November.

Those two matches paled into insignificance compared to this one. The Gunners simply had to win if they were to stand any chance of catching Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

The 90 minutes which followed was, from a Brighton point of view at least, incredible. Both sides had chances in a cagey and often feisty first half in which ex-Seagull Leandro Trossard came closest to breaking the deadlock with a shot clipping the crossbar.

Brighton settled the better after halftime and within six minutes of the restart, Julio Enciso silenced the Emirates. Pervis Estupinan managed to get a cross into the box at the second attempt and Enciso found himself free in the middle to head past Aaron Ramsdale.

From that point on, the Albion were in control. If you had no knowledge of the Premier League table, you would have thought it were Brighton battling to be champions rather than Arsenal, they were that good.

Eventually, that led to two goals at the death. Deniz Undav lobbed over Ramsdale to make it 2-0 with four minutes of normal time remaining, sparking a mass exodus of home fans.

Those who walked out missed Pervis Estupinan rub salt into the wounds in the sixth minute of injury time, charging forward from left back to smash a rebound beyond Ramsdale after the Arsenal goalkeeper had parried a drive from Undav.

Brighton celebrated wildly at full time following another away game nobody is likely to forget in a hurry. The dream of European football for the Albion is now within touching distance.
