One night in Nailsworth: Forest Green Rovers 0-3 Brighton photos

Nothing says the Magic of the League Cup quite like a Wednesday night in Nailsworth, captured impeccably in these Forest Green Rovers 0-3 Brighton photos.

Whilst the Camila Cabello Cup may be much maligned by other clubs and supporters, the prospect of a midweek trip to the Gloucestershire village of Nailsworth was greeted with enthusiasm by Albion fans.

The away end sold out as over a thousand Seagulls flocked to The New Lawn. The opportunity to tick off a new ground in The 92 could not be passed up, whilst others made the trip hoping to see the beginning of a journey which could culminate in a visit to Wembley.

Memories of that cracking day out at the 2019 FA Cup Semi Final remain strong. The League Cup offers the best opportunity going for Graham Potter to lead the Albion back to the national stadium.

A trip to Arsenal in the third round may have dented those hopes of silverware and European football a little. Still, that did not dampen the enthusiasm generated by a young but strong Brighton side who comfortably saw off their League One opponents in what might have been a banana skin of a cup tie.

Deniz Undav opened the scoring with his first Albion goal seven minutes before the interval, breaking Forest Green’s resistance.

Steve Alzate added a second in first half stoppage time, after which there was no way back for the world’s first vegan football club.

Alzate’s was a cracking finish, making it a shame that many Brighton fans would have missed it in the three hour long queue to get plant-based food and drink at The New Lawn.

Teenager Evan Ferguson rounded off the scoring late on, becoming the youngest player to score a competitive goal for Brighton since Jake Robinson in 2003 – also against Forest Green in the LDV Vans Trophy.
