Albion Photos: Brighton 2-1 Arsenal, 20/06/20

Photos of the Premier League match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal at the Amex Stadium on Saturday June 20th 2020 which the Albion won 2-1.

This is a particularly strange collection as the Gunners’ visit to the the Amex was the first Brighton game played post-lockdown with the match taking place in an empty stadium.

As a result, Albion fans had to settle for watching on televisions across Sussex and beyond, with some creating extravagant set ups to make the whole experience more reminiscent of an actual matchday.

Instead of photos of the celebrations that followed Neal Maupay’s 95th minute winner or of Lewis Dunk tackling the ball into the back of the net, we’ve got a set of how Brighton fans kept pace with three very important points in the battle for Premier League survival.

Pepe had given the visitors the lead in the 70th minute with a stunning strike which gave Maty Ryan no chance. Dunk’s equaliser arrived five minutes later, setting up an entertaining final 15 in which both sides to their credit went for the victory.

Brighton got it as Alexis Mac Allister, Aaron Connolly and Maupay linked up to fashion the Frenchman a chance which he duly took with just seconds remaining.

It was football, but not as we knew it – watching wise anyway. On the pitch, the result was less unusual, being the Albion’s third win in their past five meetings with Arsenal.

An excellent record against one of the most famous clubs in the land.
