Mitoma Mania and Remembrance: Brighton 1-1 Sheff Utd photos
The football in Brighton 1-1 Sheff Utd may have failed to inspire too much but as these fan photos show, there was still plenty of entertainment going on off the pitch.
A moving tribute was paid before kick off to mark Remembrance Sunday. For fans of mascots joining in minute silences, that included Gully bowing his head. Nothing says We Will Remember Them quite like a seven foot tall Seagull paying his respects.
Then during the game, the Amex was treated to the sight of the old television lounge next to the North Stand police box being full of Kaoru Mitoma fanatics.
Every time Mitoma began warming up, they would go absolutely berserk. Watching our Japanese friends having the time of their lives was more enjoyable than the football… or the second half at least.
Because the first half was decent enough. Simon Adingra scored a goal of individual brilliance inside of seven minutes to put Brighton 1-0 ahead, at which point a routine win against the side bottom of the table looked like it was on the cards.
The Albion though passed up a succession of opportunities to have the game wrapped up before half time. Still, victory might have been Brighton’s had Mahmoud Dahoud not lost his mind and received a straight red card just past the hour mark for a nasty stamp on the leg of Ben Osborn.
Within four minutes of that moment of madness, Sheffield United equalised. The Blades found a gap in midfield where Dahoud would have been positioned, working the ball out to Jayden Bogle.
His low cross was turned beyond Jason Steele for an own goal by Adam Webster. United’s only shot on target all afternoon coming from a Brighton defender to earn the Blades a share of the spoils.
Following on from the Fulham home game a fortnight earlier, this was a second frustrating 1-1 draw at the Amex in a row. With injuries biting, the international break comes at a good time for the Albion.
