Two headers in the space of five first half minutes from Virgil van Dijk were enough to give Premier League leaders Liverpool a 2-1 win over the Albion at Anfield.
The Reds didn’t have it all their own way though and were hanging on at times, particularly once Allison had been sent off for a deliberate handball outside his box when saving a Leandro Trossard effort.
Lewis Dunk pulled one back from the resulting free kick with an excellent piece of quick-thinking to catch out replacement goalkeeper Allison but despite being on top after that, Brighton couldn’t quite force what would have been a deserved equaliser.
