Klopp keeps Albion’s losing run going: Photos from Brighton 0-2 Liverpool

The Albion wore their yellow and blue third choice kit at the Amex in support of Ukraine and the lovely photos it led to ended up being one of the few highlights of an afternoon which finished Brighton 0-2 Liverpool.

A fifth consecutive defeat means that Brighton are now on their worst losing run since the 2006-07 League One season.

Not that anyone should have been expecting anything different against a Reds side who are doing a fine job in stopping Manchester City cruising to yet another Premier League title.

There were two main talking points from Brighton 0-2 Liverpool and your photos managed to capture them perfectly. The first involved Robert Sanchez and how he got away with kneeing Luis Diaz in the face as the Colombian gave the Reds a first half lead.

The only possible outcome seemed a red card and yet Mike Dean and VAR concluded it was not worth so much as even a booking.

Sanchez was a very lucky man. Hopefully, he sent Mr Dean a nice fruit basket afterwards to thank the referee for not sending him off.

Had the red come out, it would have been Sanchez’s second dismissal in five months after he was sent for an early bath in Brighton 1-1 Newcastle.

The second talking point was Yves Bissouma giving his shirt to an Albion fan in the crowd at half time. Have you ever seen that happen before?

Some viewed it as a sign that Bissouma was in nearly as generous a mood as Mr Dean. Others thought that he should be concentrating on football and what needed to be done to try and turn the game around in the second half rather than acting as if the match was already over.

Diaz’s 19th minute header before getting poleaxed by Sanchez was accompanied by a second half Mo Salah penalty, awarded after Bissouma blocked a shot headed towards goal with his hands.

Chances for Brighton were few and far between. Leandro Trossard fired wastefully within minutes of the restart and Alisson pulled off a magnificent save from substitute Danny Welbeck, but this was otherwise another performance in which the Albion barely had a sight of goal.

Still, at least the weather was nice. And it is only the small matter of facing Harry Kane and Son Heung-min next. Good grief.
