No points but a stunning sunset: Fulham 2-1 Brighton photos

Brighton may have suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season when losing 2-1 to Fulham, but Tuesday night in west London did at least give us plenty of photos of a stunning sunset.

Craven Cottage is a pretty enough venue at the best of times with its brick facade and, well, the cottage. Throw in an orange sky and you have a scene that requires no filter for upload to Instagram.

Just like the Albion’s last visit at which supporters were allowed in January 2019, when a snow blizzard left the famous old ground looking like something out of a Christmas card.

The Premier League table looked equally pretty when Brighton arrived at Fulham. The Seagulls sat fourth and knew that victory over the Cottagers would take them top for 24 hours until Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs played on Wednesday night.

Fulham though have proven tricky opponents to the Albion in recent years. In the Championship, it used to be that Brighton would play badly against the Cottagers and yet still find a way to undeservedly win.

In the Premier League, the Seagulls have continued to play badly against Fulham. Now though it is the Cottagers who never lose in the fixture, with their record extended to two wins and three draws from four five top flight matches.

Central to that is the presence of Alexandar Mitrovic at Fulham. Lewis Dunk seems to turn to jelly whenever faced with the Serb striker, an oddity given that Dunk has coped with virtually every other forward he has faced in the Premier League.

It came as a surprise to absolutely nobody that Mitrovic was the man who opened the scoring once again on this occasion for Fulham early in the second half.

Dunk then scored an own goal past Robert Sanchez 10 minutes later. Brighton pulled one back via an Alexis Mac Allister penalty but in reality, they were second best all evening.

Just as well we had that sunset.
