Sun, fun and six Albion goals: Brighton 6-0 Wolves photos

The sun shone, the beers flowed and a lot of fantastic photos were taken as Brighton hammered Wolves 6-0 with Roberto De Zerbi and his players rewriting the Albion history books. Again.

Brighton had never scored six times in a top flight match before, nor had they won by six clear goals at the highest level of English football. Scarily, it could and probably should have been more.

What made the performance and manner of victory particularly impressive was that it was achieved without Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Kaoru Mitoma.

De Zerbi opted to rest arguably his three best players after the midweek defeat at Nottingham Forest, when the Albion looked tired in both body and mind.

And yet Wolves were still blown away. The lesser-spotted Billy Gilmour, Julio Enciso and Deniz Undav were all given rare chances to start.

They more than grabbed the opportunity, giving virtuoso displays that show this Brighton squad has more depth to it than many of us realised.

Little wonder that De Zerbi said afterwards it was the best game of his managerial career. The Albion boss has some tough decisions to make now ahead of Manchester United visiting the Amex.

Undav got the party started with his first Premier League strike with six minutes on the clock. The outstanding Pascal Gross made it 2-0 seven minutes later.

Gross then added a third with a goal of the season contender, setting himself up for a stonking volley from 25 yards into the top corner.

Some Wolves fans began to leave the Amex at that point, with less than half an hour on the clock. It got worse for the Old Gold before half time when Danny Welbeck headed home the fourth six minutes prior to the break.

Welbeck struck the fifth three minutes into the second half with Undav rounding off the scoring on 66, producing a beautiful chip from a seemingly impossible angle.

What a day. What a 90 minutes of football. What a team.
