Albion Photos: Brighton 0-1 Crystal Palace, 29/02/20

Photos of the Premier League match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium on Saturday February 29th 2020 which ended in a 0-1 defeat for the Seagulls.

The 143rd meeting between Brighton and Palace went the way of the Eagles in a game low on quality in which both sides squandered a succession of chances.

For the Albion, Solly March and Neal Maupay missed easy opportunities and Lewis Dunk saw his bullet header blocked on the line by Maupay.

Palace meanwhile should have scored through Christian Benteke and Cheikhou Kouyate in the first half. Wilfried Zaha hilariously then missed an open goal from less than five yards out which would have wrapped up the three points for the visitors.

Jordan Ayew netted what proved to be the winner 20 minutes before that Zaha chance. Brighton’s defending for the goal was woeful as Benteke was allowed to breeze his way forward before sending a ball into a gaping hole in the Albion back line through which Ayew burst to beat Maty Ryan a little too easily.

A significant police presence both in town and at the Amex wasn’t enough to prevent trouble breaking out throughout the day.

Our fan photos not only show Palace securing their 0-1 win over Brighton, but also the smoke bombs that Eagles fans managed to get into the stadium and one classy supporter ripping down a poster of Chris Hughton which celebrated the Albion’s promotion into the Premier League.
